Bimbo Daramola Celebrates Awolowo’s Posthumous Birthday, Distributes #1050 JAMB Forms for #Ekiti Candidates

Leading aspirant in the next gubernatorial election in Ekiti State, Congressman Bimbo Daramola on Tuesday commemorated the 109th posthumous birthday of former premier of defunct Western Region, Late Obafemi Jeremiah Awolowo with the distribution of 1050 of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME forms of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board to the selected candidates across the 16 local government areas of the State.

The second historical event which occasioned unprecedented hindrance of the human and vehicular activities around Afe Babalola Civic Centre, Ado-Ekiti, the state capital for several hours attracted thousand of youths among whom were beneficiaries, parents, guardians, invited guests, state leadership of the All Progressive Congress, APC and teeming officials and members across 177 wards of the 16 local government of the state.

While welcoming the ecstatic guests to the epoch making program, Chief Mrs. Kemisola Adegoke Olaleye the vice chairperson, APC Ekiti State chapter firstly congratulated the beneficiaries of the philanthropic gesture of Hon. Bimbo Daramola. She implored the candidates to read extensively and ensure successful use of the unique opportunity given to them by the former National Assembly member.

Olaleye spoke further to commend the facilitator of the ameliorating scheme for his mission and vision of the future generation of the state as it implies of his gubernatorial project themed “ Nitori Ojo Ola Wa”. Ekiti APC acting chairperson thanked Daramola for reviving the spirit of the party with his series of humanitarian and brotherly strides across all the 16 local areas of the state.

She therefore urged other party bigwigs and public spirited individuals to emulate the rave making aspirants by tolling his path. Mrs. Olaleye in conclusion implored the gathering to embrace APC and whoever emerges as its standard bearer in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.

Congressman Daramola in his speech expressed gratitude to Almighty for the concept and enablement of the charitable event. He stressed that the gesture was not informed by his aspiration to contest the next governorship but to purposefully impact in lives of people.

According to him, my ambition to become governor of Ekiti State is secondary if willed by the Almighty but salvaging the future generation is a primary concern to me as a passionate person. Our party, APC primaries is coming up in April and if the intent to seek favour or whatever to boost my support base it won’t be from the JAMB candidates who are not eligible to partake in the party internal selection.

Unequivocally, if we are out to make noise of this progressive drive it would not have started this year when there was no electoral tempo within and outside the state. My aim to give assistances to young brilliant but indigent students across the state is simply to be historical known as a destiny helper by the time the beneficiaries of our kind gesture attain their respective potentials in various professional fields.

Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s name whose 109th posthumous birthday coinciding this event got ingrained in the heart of teeming privileged beneficiaries of his primary education in the old western region of Nigeria. Late Sage free educational programme refined and salvaged lives of many Yoruba sons and daughters from being celebrated as renowned erudite. And that placed Yoruba race ahead of other tribes in the country till date, he stated.

Daramola maintained that his intendment to contest the next governorship in the state was to make difference by redefining governance to enable every resident of the state to participate directly or indirectly towards optimal exploitation of the abundant natural endowments in the state. He vowed that his administration if voted would unplug many potential to activate social and economic empowerment that would positively impact all and sundry.

He therefore admonished the APC delegates to critically examine all the candidates in the race before settling for the best. Daramola in conclusion enjoined the candidates to read more to excel in the examination in flying colours so as to justify the grace given to them to fulfill their higher institutions education pursuits. He thanked the state party officers who within tight their schedules deemed it fit to grace the occasion.
